VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova field hockey team (3-9, 0-4 BIG EAST) fell, 6-0, to No. 20 Old Dominion (6-6, 3-1 BIG EAST) Friday evening at Villanova Stadium.

Midfielder Sarah Breen scored the first two goals for Old Dominion at 12:32 and 16:42. The first goal came off a penalty corner and the second was deflected into the goal. Forward Cassandra Wagner added a goal with a shot from inside the arc at 28:13 and the Wildcats went into halftime down 3-0.

After allowing nine shots in the first, the Wildcat defense allowed just four in the second.

Back Emily Harting deflected the ball into the goal off a penalty corner at 39:15. Wagner scored her second of the game at 50:05 off a cross in front of the goal and Forward Rosario Villagra scored at 61:20 from just inside the arc.

Senior goalkeeper Alex Diekmann started after missing two games with an injury. Diekmann made one save in the game, but she regularly came out of the net to challenge Lady Monarchs. The Holmdel, N.J., native stopped the ball before ODU forwards could get a shot off.

Junior midfielder Lauren Wilson had two shots in the game while sophomore forward Heather Smillie had one. Junior back Abigail Freitag made a defensive save in the second half.

Old Dominion goalkeeper Megan Hept made two saves. The Lady Monarchs outshot the Wildcats 13-3 and held a 3-1 advantage in penalty corners.

The Wildcats travel north to take on Providence in Rhode Island on Saturday, Oct. 18 at noon.
