Villanova, Pa. - The Wildcats (10-2, 1-1 Big East) dropped their second game of the season to Providence (8-4, 1-2) Big East) Saturday 3-0. Villanova was held scoreless for the first time this season to snap their six game winning streak.

The Friars got out in front with a goal from Nellie Poulin 6:55 into the game. A pass from Ashlyn Hudson across the front of the cage put them up 1-0 at the half.

Providence struck again to go up 2-0 in the 41st minute. Adrienne Marois scored on a penalty corner that got past the Villanova defense.

The third Friars goal was scored with less than three minutes remaining. Providence's Julie Ruggieri took a shot from about 10 yards out on a penalty corner to seal the win for the Friars.

Sophomore Meredith Sabatini (Haddonfield, N.J.) led the Wildcats with two shots on goal as they put pressure on the Providence defense. Despite getting close numerous times, Villanova was never able to get the ball past Providence's goalie Rachel Chamberlain who recorded four saves.

Sophomore goalkeeper Maura McCormick (Forty Fort, Pa.) had three saves for the Wildcats in the loss. Despite allowing three goals in the contest, McCormick has been fantastic as her goals against average is now 0.95.

Up next for the Wildcats is a trip to Louisville. The will take on the Cardinals Friday October 10th at 3 p.m.
