KENT, Ohio - The Villanova field hockey team rode its offense to a 4-2 win over Saint Louis in Kent, Ohio on Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats' four goals were the most scored by the team so far this season. Villanova (2-3) scored two in a win against Siena last week.
Villanova dominated the game offensively, leading 25-9 in shots and 15-6 in penalty corners.
Junior forward Jessica Swoboda scored two goals consecutively. Swoboda, who has taken all penalty corners for the Wildcats this season, took a rebound off a corner and turned it into a goal at 20:30 with an assist from Harding. Swoboda scored another at 24:48, which took the Wildcats into halftime with a 4-0 lead. The Hanover Twp., Pa., native leads Villanova in goals (3) and points (6).
The Billikens (0-6) got on the board in the second half, scoring just 1:49 after the break. Saint Louis scored again less than two minutes later, but were unable to match the Wildcats.
Senior goalkeeper Alex Diekmann made one save.
The Wildcats return to action tomorrow at noon against host Kent State. The Golden Flashes (3-2) defeated Saint Louis, 13-0, in their last outing on Friday afternoon.
