PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Villanova (4-1) beat the Temple Owls (1-5) 2-1 at Geasey Field in the Temple Invitational Sunday afternoon. Junior Megan Foster continued her impressive season scoring both of the `Nova goals on the day.

The Wildcats took the lead fifteen minutes into the game off a cut by freshman, Julia Noorduyn (Lyceum/ Rotterdam, The Netherlands), who weaved in between two defenders to pass to Megan Foster (Bishop Eustace/Berlin, N.J.) running down the right side. Foster made a move right and fired the ball past Temple keeper, Erin Hanshue, to make the score 1-0.

`Nova narrowly avoided the tying goal in the first half as goalkeeper, Erin Scott, faced off in the `Cats' first penalty shot of the year. She stopped Temple junior Lindsay Holman to keep Villanova up going into half.

Villanova struck again early in the second half off of a penalty corner, only its second of the game. Lauren Campanelli (Neshaminy/Langhorne, Pa.) pushed the ball off of the end line to junior Sara Schmidt (Wilmington Friends/Mullica Hill, N.J.) as the stopper. Foster received the pass and faked one defender before scoring her second goal of the day, giving her six on the season. Both Campanelli and Schmidt were credited with assists.

The Owls finally got on the board with five minutes left in the game. Sophomore midfielder Ashley Bird dribbled the ball into the circle and shot it by Scott to make the final score 2-1.

The final statistics were evenly matched with Villanova registering sixteen shots, and eight penalty corners. Scott also had six saves for the game. The Owls tallied thirteen shots, eight saves, nine penalty corners and an impressive three defensive saves. 'Nova Head Coach Joanie Q. Milhous credited the entire team for the win.

"Today was a total team effort. Everyone showed up to play which made the outcome different from Friday night. Sam Coveleski played well in the midfield and the entire team really stepped up."

Villanova is back in action for its second home contest of the season Wednesday night against West Chester at Villanova Stadium with pushback scheduled for 7 p.m.
