Catherine Somits, a former field hockey player at Villanova, is entering her first year as an assistant coach. Somits started in all 77 games of her career at the midfield position, finishing with 14 goals, 11 assists and 39 points. While she will help out with all aspects of the game, her focus will be on the defensive side where she spent her career. Somits played an important role in the success of the program on the field, and this year she will be looking to make an impact off the field. Along with her assistant coaching duties, Somits is interning with Villanova Athletics in the Student Services department. Somits graduated from Villanova in May of 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She currently resides in Bryn Mawr, Pa. |
