Former Wildcat standout and All-American Rory Rogers is entering her third year as an assistant coach at her alma mater after graduating in 2006. Rogers was one of the top field hockey players in the BIG EAST as well as the country during her storied career for the Wildcats. Now a fixture on the sidelines, Rogers continues to lend her experience in a coaching role after finishing her playing career. Helping in all facets of practice, game and player development, Rogers specializes in coaching offensive tactics. Her tutelage can be seen through the most recent accomplishments of Lauren Wuzzardo and Dana Ramsden, both of whom were named to the 2008 All-BIG EAST Second Team, Longstreth/NFHCA All-Region Second Team and the All-Philadelphia Team for the second consecutive year under Rogers development. During her four years on the Main Line, Rogers left her mark in the field hockey record books. As a captain during Villanova's 2005 historic season, Rogers led her record-breaking squad to an outstanding 15-5 record, which is the largest number of wins in school history. With her at the help, the team also won the first regular season BIG EAST Championship, earned a No. 1 seed entering conference tournament play, and debuted the Wildcats' first ever national ranking. In that same year, Rogers was part of the trio of Villanova players to receive BIG EAST accolades. Rogers was selected as the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year, while fellow teammate Lauren Campanelli and head coach Joanie Milhous were also honored. In addition, Rogers was named to the all BIG EAST First Team for the second time in her career, as well as selected to play in the highly touted North/South Senior All-Star Game. As a forward, Rogers shouldered a majority of the scoring responsibilities for the Wildcats during her career. She is currently tied for third on Villanova's all-time list for Career Goals with 46, while solely holding down the third spot for Career Points with 111. Rogers currently resides in Rosemont, Pa. |
