Former Wildcat standout Vanessa Pizzulli has rejoined Villanova field hockey team as an assistant coach. Pizzulli played in all 77 games of her career, totalling four goals, 32 assists and 40 points from the defensive backfield. Her 32 assists tied the school record for most in a career. One of the BIG EAST's top defenders, she was a two-time first team All-BIG EAST selection and earned second team All-BIG EAST honors as well as STX/NFHCA second team All-Mid-Atlantic Region recognition. Pizzulli also excelled off the field and in the classroom. She was a three-time NFHCA Academic All-Star and a four-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star. Pizzulli also received Villanova's Sister Mary Margaret Cribben award, given to a student-athlete who sacrifices herself for the team and motivates others. She received her Communications degree in May of 2004 and now works as an account executive for Provident Packaging Corporation. She resides in Manayunk, Pa. with several former teammates. | |||||||||||||
