Milhous has continued to build upon her goal of making Villanova field hockey into one of the most respected programs in the BIG EAST Conference. Milhous enters 2005 with a 101-99 record in ten years of coaching at Villanova and a 123-139-4 career record in 14 seasons.
At the end of the 2004 season, the Wildcats made their fourth consecutive trip to the BIG EAST Championship following a 2-3 season in conference play.
The team ranked third in the conference for goals scored (52) and was second in assists (48). Three of the top ten stat leaders in the Big East were Wildcats, and Villanova defeated a ranked team (No. 15 Syracuse) for the second consecutive year. The `Cats also out-scored their opponents 52-37 over the course of the season.
Milhous also led the Wildcats to the BIG EAST Championship game in 2001 and 2002, following an 11-year drought.
On Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, Milhous earned her 59th victory as Villanova's head coach and became the all-time winningest field hockey coach at Villanova when the Wildcats defeated West Chester, 3-1, at Villanova Stadium.
In May of 1995, Milhous arrived on the Main Line after a brief four-year coaching stint at nearby Cabrini College. In just four years at Cabrini, she completely turned the program around. After recording only one win in her first season, Milhous closed her career at Cabrini with an 11-win season in 1994, earning her 1994 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Coach of the Year honors.
Milhous's accomplishments at Villanova have followed a similar trend. In her fourth season at the helm, she guided the Wildcats to their most successful season in nine seasons, posting a 13-7 overall record. The 13 wins was the most by a Villanova squad since the 1998 season when the 'Cats went 14-7-2.
In the past six seasons Milhous has compiled 71 victories, highlighted by the two BIG EAST Championship appearances and the 1999 BIG EAST Coach of the Year award.
One of the trademarks of Villanova's play has been their offensive explosiveness. Over the last four seasons the Wildcats have averaged 2.42 goals per game in a process of rewriting the record books. Four offensive records - career goals, career points, career assists and team goals - have all been shattered.
In addition to her role as the head field hockey coach, Milhous served as the women's lacrosse head coach from 1997-2000. During her three seasons directing the women's lacrosse program the Wildcats posted a 10-38 record. At the end of the 2000 season she stepped down from her position in order to concentrate entirely on field hockey.
Milhous graduated in 1991 from the College of William & Mary where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. Whie attending William & Mary she was a standout for both the field hockey and women's lacrosse programs.
In field hockey Milhous was a two-time Regional All-American and two-time All-Conference selection, as well as being chosen eam captain for her senior season. She ended her career as the seventh-leading scorer in Tribe history.
In addition to her success on the field hockey field, she also earned equal rewards for her play in lacrosse. After being named team captain, she also received Regional All-American and All-Conference honors. In each of her four seasons playing lacrosse, the Tribe was nationally ranked.
She was voted to participate in the North/South All-Star game in both field hockey and lacrosse.
Milhous also served as President of the BIG EAST Conference Field Hockey Site Committee in 1998 and was a board member of the Philadelphia Lacrosse Association from 1998-2000, representing the Philadelphia-area colleges.
