Villanova Women Ready for a Repeat Dad Vail Performance

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Dad Vail Regatta is the largest collegiate regatta in the United States. Hundreds of colleges with thousands of student athletes visit the city of Philadelphia during the second week of May every year for this outstanding event. This years Regatta will be held on May 8 & 9, 1998. In the 1997 Dad Vail Regatta, Villanova women dominated the water-ways. The Villanova women's team advanced to the semi-finals in the varsity four, the varsity heavyweight eight, the varsity lightweight eight and the novice eight. By the conclusion of the two day event, Villanova's women brought home victories in the Frosh/Novice Lightweight Eight, Frosh/Novice Eight and the Women's Varsity Lightweight Eight. The Wildcats captured the Women's Point Trophy with 34 points; the second place winners finished a whole 15 points behind with a score of 19 points. The Villanova women also achieved the highest crown in the Regatta by winning the Overall Point Trophy with an astounding 42 point total.
