Women's Crew to Host Villanova Invitational

Villanova University women's crew will be hosting the Villanova Invitational this Saturday, March 28, 1998 at the Schuykill River in Philadelphia, Pa. Participants will include Villanova University, Franklin & Marshall, St. Joseph's University, LaSalle University, Catholic University and Princeton University's Lightweight's.

For the first time, USRowing put together a preseason coaches' poll to find out which teams to keep an eye on in this upcoming collegiate season. Villanova's lightweight varsity eight is currently ranked No. 3, while Princeton's lightweight varsity eight is currently ranked No.2. The lightweight eight race will be extremely competitive between two top notch team such as these.

In 1997, the Wildcat lightweights and heavyweights both posted numerous key victories throughout the season. As a result of the wins, Villanova won the points trophy and the overall points trophy for the Dad Vail Regatta for the first time ever, with the highest point total (34) by a women's crew team in the Regatta's history.
