Wildcats Compete at Day One of the Dad Vails

PHILADELPHIA, PA - It was a warm, sunny day on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, on Friday, May 11, as the Villanova University rowing team competed in day one of the of the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta. The Wildcats put together an outstanding day of rowing on Friday at the regatta that they have won in three of the last four years.
In the women's varsity heavyweight four on Friday morning, Villanova's boat finished fifth in the second heat of the event with a time of 8:19.1. The Wildcats' finish was not good enough to advance them to Saturday's finals.
Villanova turned the tides its way later in the morning, as the Wildcats competed in the women's varsity heavyweight eight. In the second heat, event 25 overall on the day, Villanova posted a first place finish with a time of 6:51.6. With their first place finish, the Wildcats advance to Saturday's event finals.
Villanova ended the morning's races on a high note, as the Wildcats recorded a second place finish (8:39.9) in the women's freshmen novice four. The second place finish gives the Villanova boat a spot in Saturday's finals. For full Dad Vail Regatta results, go to www.dadvail.org |
