VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova will conclude a two-game Midwest road trip on Tuesday, Dec. 31, with a game at Marquette. The Wildcats enter play 9-2 overall and 0-1 in Big East play, while Marquette is 10-2 overall and 1-0 in conference action. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. eastern time.
Tuesday's game at Marquette will be the 11th all-time meeting between Villanova and the Golden Eagles. Marquette leads the all-time series by a 7-3 count. The Golden Eagles have dominated the series of late winning the last five meetings. Villanova is 1-3 all-time in games played at Marquette.
In the last two games, Caroline and Katherine Coyer have put up impressive numbers in the scoring department. The Coyer twins have combined to shoot 20-of-37 for 54.0 percent in the last two contests and have combined for a total of 53 points. The 53 points accounted for 45.2 percent of Villanova's scoring in the two games against Temple and Creighton.
Villanova continues to lead the country in fewest turnovers per game at 9.3 per contest. In six of the 11 games, the Wildcats have had single digits in the turnover department. Villanova has led the country in three of the last six years in fewest turnovers per game, including last year when the Wildcats averaged 10.5 per contest.
Villanova is led in scoring by senior guard Devon Kane who is averaging 10.9 points per game. Caroline Coyer is second on the team with a 10.7 points per game average. Sophomore Kavunaa Edwards leads Villanova in rebounding with a 6.1 rebounds per game average.
