Wildcats Travel to New Hampshire for Dartmouth Blue Sky Classic

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova travels to Hanover, N.H., this weekend to participate in the Dartmouth Blue Sky Classic. The Wildcats will take on Delaware at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29. The other first round match-up features Duquesne against Dartmouth. The Wildcats enter play in the tournament riding an eight-game winning streak and a 9-1 overall record.

The Dartmouth Blue Sky Classic will be the third in-season tournament that Villanova has played in this year. Villanova opened the season in the Minnesota Best Buy Classic where they defeated South Dakota State (71-47) in the first round and lost to Minnesota (75-60) in the championship game. During Thanksgiving, the Wildcats won the UNLV Lady Rebel Round-Up with victories over Bowling Green (53-42) and Montana (74-49).

Wildcats Falter Down the Stretch and Drop a 64-56 Contest to Delaware
Junior Laura Sweeney tied a career-high with 25 points, but the Wildcats could not hang on in the game's final minutes and fell 64-56 to Delaware at The Pavilion on Tuesday night. Sweeney's points led Villanova (3-2) and she pulled down seven rebounds and junior Megan Pearson tallied nine points and grabbed a team-high nine boards.

In the history of the program, the Villanova Wildcats have tallied a 78-35 (.690) all-time record when playing in-season tournaments. The Wildcats have won six of the last eight in-season tournaments they have played in.

Villanova is led by senior forward Laura Sweeney who leads the team in scoring (12.1 ppg.), rebounding (5.7 rpg.), field goal percentage (.568), steals (20) and blocks (15). Senior guard Rachel Roberts ranks second in scoring at 11.1 points per game, while freshman Caroline Coyer has a team-best 30 assists.
