Wildcats Open BIG EAST Play at Creighton

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova opens up Big East Conference play this week with a two-game Midwest road trip. The Wildcats play at Creighton on Saturday, Dec. 28, before traveling to Marquette on Tuesday, Dec. 31.

The Wildcats will be playing Creighton for the first time in program history when the two teams meet on Saturday afternoon. Creighton is in its first year as a member of the Big East Conference.

When Villanova travels to Omaha, Nebraska on Saturday to take on Creighton, it will be the first time in program history that the Wildcats have played a game in the state of Nebraska. In fact, Saturday's game will mark the first time that the Villanova women's basketball team has played a school from the state of Nebraska.

After 10 games this season, Villanova has had an assist on 181 of its 252 made field goals for 71.8 percent. The Wildcats currently have three players with 30 or more assists led by Caroline Coyer with 46, followed by Devon Kane with 45 and Lauren Burford with 32.

Villanova is led in scoring by Kane who is averaging 11.4 points per game. Kane also leads the team in three-point field goal percentage at 50.0 percent and she is second in assists with 45. Sophomore Kavunaa Edwards leads Villanova in rebounding with a 6.4 rebounds per game average, while sophomore guard Caroline Coyer has tallied a team-high 46 assists. Coyer is second on the team in scoring at 10.8 points per game.
