Leer Earns Big 5 Player of the Week Honors

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Villanova junior forward Emily Leer (Glenside, Pa./Abington H.S.) has been named Philadelphia Big Five Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Leer earns the award for her play in Sunday's 83-47 win over La Salle.

Leer was also honored by the Big East Conference earning a spot on the weekly Honor Roll.

In the La Salle victory, Leer scored a game-high 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field, including a 3-of-3 effort from three-point range. She also tallied three rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes of action.

After nine games in 2013-14, Leer currently ranks second on the team in scoring at 11.2 points per game. She is shooting 45.7 percent from the field (38-of-83) and 36.5 percent from three-point range (15-of-41).

The 8-1 Wildcats will return to action on Sunday, Dec. 22, with a game at Temple. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
