Wildcats Open Big 5 Play Against St. Joseph's Saturday

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova will open up Philadelphia Big Five play on Saturday, Dec. 7, by hosting the Saint Joseph's Hawks. Tip-off at The Pavilion is set for 2 p.m.
The Wildcats enter play on Saturday versus Saint Joseph's with an all-time City Series record of 100-35 (.740). The 100 win are the most by any Big Five women's program. Saint Joseph's is second with 99 victories.
Saturday's game will be just the second home contest of the year for the Wildcats. Villanova played its first four games on the road before hosting Lafayette in the home opener on Nov. 24. After Saturday's contest with the Hawks, Villanova will play its next four games on the road. The team's next home date is Jan. 4 against Providence.
After seven games this season, Villanova has had an assist on 127 of its 173 made field goals for 73.4 percent. Last season, Villanova had an assist on 509 of its 702 made field goals for 72.5 percent. The Wildcats currently have three players with 25 or more assists led by Devon Kane with 32, followed by Caroline Coyer with 31 and Lauren Burford with 25.
Villanova is led in scoring by Kane who is averaging 12.7 points per game. The Wildcats have two other players averaging double figures in points including junior forward Lauren Burford (11.4 ppg.) and sophomore guard Caroline Coyer (10.1 ppg.). Sophomore forward Kavunaa Edwards leads the team in rebounds at 7.1 per game.
