Women's Basketball Returns Home to take on Saint Joseph's Sunday

Villanova returns home on Sunday afternoon to play host to the Saint Joseph’s Hawks in a Big Five contest. The Wildcats enter play ranked No. 24/25 in the country with a 6-0 record, while the Hawks are 5-1 on the season. Tip-off at the Jake Nevin Field House is set for 1 p.m.

The Wildcats enter play against Saint Joseph’s with an all-time Big Five record of 112-38 (.746). The 112 wins are the most victories by any Big Five women’s program. Saint Joseph’s is second with 109 Big Five wins. Entering play on Sunday, Villanova is 21-4 in its last 25 Philadelphia Big Five games. 

Villanova is in a stretch of playing three Big Five game contests in a four game period. After playing Saint Joseph’s on Sunday, the Wildcats travel to Fairfield on Wednesday, Dec. 6, before playing at Temple on Sunday, Dec. 10. The Wildcats will play at La Salle on Dec. 20 after a 10 day break for final exams. The team’s final Big Five game will be on Jan. 17 versus Penn.

Sunday’s game against Saint Joseph’s will be just the second home game of the year for the Wildcats. Villanova will play only two of its first 12 games at home. In the team’s home opener, Villanova tallied a 64-59 win over No. 11 Duke on Nov. 19. 

Villanova is led in scoring by junior guard Adrianna Hahn who is averaging a team-best 14.3 points per game, followed by sophomore guard Kelly Jekot who is averaging 11.7 points per contest. Senior center Megan Quinn leads the Wildcats in rebounding at 6.8 rebounds per contest.
