Philadelphia, Pa. - Villanova University senior forward Laura Sweeney has been named the Philadelphia Big Five Player of the Week. She earns the honor for her play last weekend in the UNLV Lady Rebel Round-Up.

Sweeney led the Wildcats to the tournament championship with wins over Bowling Green and Montana. In the two games, she averaged 14.0 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per contest, while shooting 65.0 percent from the field. She also tallied six blocks, six steals and three assists.

Her best game of the tournament came in the first round versus Bowling Green. In 28 minutes of action, she registered 16 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks, four steals and one assist.

After five games this season, Sweeney is averaging a team-best 15.6 points per game and a team-high 6.2 rebounds per contest. She also leads the team in field goal percentage (.666) and steals with 13.

Sweeney and the 4-1 Wildcats will open the home portion of the schedule on Thursday, Nov. 29 against Lehigh. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
