VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova will travel to Lafayette tonight for a non conference game. Tip-off at the Kirby Sports Center is set for 7 p.m.
Despite being just 63 miles apart, tonight will be just the fifth all-time meeting between the schools and first since December of 1989. In that last meeting, the Wildcats defeated Lafayette by a score of 78-60 in the first round of the Villanova Christmas Classic. Villanova leads the all-time series by a count of 3-1.
The Wildcats are in a stretch of playing five consecutive road contests to open the season. Following tonight's game at Lafayette, Villanova will travel to UNLV next week to participate in a two-game Thanksgiving Tournament.
Villanova is coming off a 1-1 effort at the Minnesota Best Buy Classic. The Wildcats defeated South Dakota State (71-47) in the first round, before losing to the host Gophers by a score of 75-60 in the championship game.
Senior forward Laura Sweeney led the Wildcats in the tournament with two game totals of 33 points, eight rebounds, five steals and three assists. Her best effort of the tournament came in round one against South Dakota State when she scored a game-high 24 points.
