Villanova will open the 2017-18 season on Friday evening with a road game at Hartford. Game time at Chase Arena is set for 5:30 p.m.  The Wildcats are 29-19 (.604) all-time in season openers.

Wildcat junior guard Adrianna Hahn was a unanimous selection to the Preseason All-Big East team. As a sophomore last year, Hahn started 33 of 35 games and ranked second on the team in scoring at 12.6 points per game. She led the Wildcats in three-point shooting by connecting on 93-of-226 for 41.1 percent. She also tallied 70 assists (2nd on team) and 38 steals (tied for team lead). Hahn reached double figures in points 18 times in 2016-17, including eight contests of 20 points or more and two games of 30 points or more.

Villanova tallied a 109-42 win over Division II East Stroudsburg on Nov. 1 in exhibition play. Hahn led six Wildcats in double figures with a game-high 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field, including a 5-of-10 effort from three-point range. Brianna Herlihy and Kelly Jekot had 13 points each, while Cameron Onken had 12 points. Grace Stant chipped in with 11 points and Megan Quinn added 10. Villanova was 42-of-74 from the field (56.8%), 18-of-36 from three-point range (50.0%) and 7-of-7 from the foul line.



In the 2017-18 predicted order of finish, Villanova was chosen to finish third in the Big East Conference standings. Villanova garnered 61 points in the poll. The Wildcats return four starters and eight letterwinners from last year’s team that went 20-15 overall and 11-7 in conference play.
