VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova women's basketball team will open the 2013-14 season on Nov. 9-10 in the University of Toledo Glass City Tournament. The tournament gets underway on Saturday, Nov. 9, with Villanova playing Mississippi Valley State at noon and host Toledo playing Drexel at 2:30 p.m. The championship game is set for 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, with the consolation game scheduled for noon.

Villanova has played just six total games all-time against the three teams that are participating in this weekend's tournament and all six contests have come against one of the three teams. The Wildcats have never played Mississippi Valley State and Toledo and are 5-1 all-time versus Drexel.

The Wildcats are 28-16 (.636) all-time in season openers, including 22-13 in openers under head coach Harry Perretta.

In the history of the program, Villanova has registered a 79-36 (.686) all-time record when playing in-season tournaments. The Wildcats have won six of the last nine in-season tournaments they have played in.

Sophomore point guard Caroline Coyer was rewarded for her play last year by being named to the 2013-14 Preseason All-Big East Team. As a freshman last season, she played in 21 games and averaged 7.4 points per game, 3.1 rebounds per contest and 2.5 assists per game. Her scoring average makes her the team's top returning scorer.
