VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova University head women's basketball coach Harry Perretta today announced the resignation of assistant coach Mary Beth Snell. Snell will be replaced by former Wildcat great Trish Juhline who will be an interim assistant coach for the 2007-08 season.

"Mary Beth will be tough to replace. She did an outstanding job the last six years. I wish her nothing but the best as she begins a new career. I know she will have great success at the University of Portland," said Perretta. "We are really excited about Trish joining the staff. She knows the program very well and I expect her to make a smooth transition. She will provide great guidance for our players."

Snell, who spent six years as a Wildcat assistant, recently accepted a position at the University of Portland as the school's career counselor/assistant director. Snell owns an undergraduate and Masters Degree from Villanova. In 2000, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing and she completed her Master's Degree in School Counseling this past summer. She was a three-year letterwinner during her playing days from 1996-2000.

Juhline is one of the most decorated players in the program's history. She currently ranks third all-time in scoring with 1,659 points and 11th in assists with 385. She also holds the school record for career three-point field goals with 275. During her four-year Villanova career, she helped the Wildcats to an 85-41 mark, three NCAA Tournament titles, a Big East Championship and an Elite Eight appearance. Juhline was a two-time All-Big East first team selection and in 2003 she garnered CoSIDA District II Academic All-American acclaim. Also, in 2003, she won the Big East scoring title by averaging 19.2 points per game.

Juhline spent the last four seasons as a member of the Drexel University women's basketball staff. She was the Dragons graduate assistant from 2003-05, before taking over as the Director of Basketball Operations in 2005-06. Last year, Juhline was a full-time assistant on the Drexel staff.
