Villanova Picked Third in BIG EAST Preseason Poll
Oct. 18, 2017

New York, N.Y. -

The Big East Conference held its annual women's basketball media day this afternoon at Madison Square Garden in New York City. In the preseason predicted order of finish, Villanova was picked to finish third with 61 points. Marquette was selected as the league champion with 81 points and nine first place votes, while DePaul was second with 73 points and one first place vote.

Wildcat junior guard Adrianna Hahn (Wilmington, Del.) was a unanimous selection to the Preseason All-Big East team. As a sophomore last year, Hahn started 33 of 35 games and ranked second on the team in scoring at 12.6 points per game. She led the Wildcats in three-point shooting by connecting on 93-of-226 for 41.1 percent. She also tallied 70 assists (2nd on team) and 38 steals (tied for team lead). Hahn reached double figures in points 18 times in 2016-17, including eight contests of 20 points or more and two games of 30 points or more. Her best effort of the season came against Xavier on Feb. 17, 2017, when she scored a career-high 33 points.

Villanova returns four starters and eight letterwinners from last year's team that went 20-15 overall and 11-7 in Big East play which was good enough for a fourth place finish. The 20 victories marked the fifth straight 20-win season for the Wildcats.

The 2017-18 season opener is set for Friday, Nov. 10, at the University of Hartford. Villanova's home opener is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 19, versus Duke.
