Sophomore Caroline Coyer

Oct. 16, 2013

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The BIG EAST Conference held its annual Media Day on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Chelsea Piers in New York. In addition to announcing the preseason predicted order of finish, the conference also released the preseason All-Conference team and individual player awards.

Villanova was picked to finish fourth with 56 points. DePaul was the choice to win the regular season championship with 79 points and eight first place votes. Creighton was chosen to finish second with 67 points and two first place votes, while St. John's earns the third spot with 62 points.

Wildcat sophomore guard Caroline Coyer (Oak Hill, Va.) was named to the Preseason All-Big East team. As a true freshman last year, Coyer averaged 7.4 points per game and 3.1 rebounds per contest. Despite missing 11 games due to a hand injury, Coyer still managed to register 53 assists.

The Wildcats return two starters and six letterwinners from last year's team that went 21-11 overall and 9-7 in Big East play to earn an at large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Villanova begins the 2013-14 season on Nov. 9-10 in the Toledo Tournament. The Wildcats take on Mississippi Valley State in the first round and will play either host Toledo or Drexel in the second round
