2009-10 Villanova Women's Basketball Schedule

VILLANOVA, Pa. -

Villanova University Director of Athletics Vince Nicastro today announced the 2009-10 Wildcat women's basketball schedule. The Wildcats will play a 29-game schedule, including 16 Big East Conference contests and four Philadelphia Big Five match-ups.

The 2009-10 campaign tips-off on Monday, Nov. 16, with a road contest at Sacred Heart. Villanova returns two days later on Nov. 18 for its home opener against Big Five foe Penn. The Wildcats will also play at Massachusetts on Nov. 22. Villanova will spend its Thanksgiving holiday at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga Tournament. Evansville will be the team's first round opponent. Kennesaw State and host Tennessee Chattanooga round out the tournament field.

December begins on the road at Lehigh before the Wildcats return to the Main Line for back-to-back home games against Saint Joseph's (Dec. 9) and Binghamton (Dec. 11). Villanova will play two Big Five road contests in three days before the Christmas holiday. The `Cats are at Temple on Dec. 20 and at La Salle on Dec. 22.

Villanova will host the Wildcat Christmas Classic on Dec. 28 and Dec. 29. The firs round pairings include Villanova versus San Francisco and Drexel versus Loyola (Md.). Villanova's last non conference game will be played on Jan. 21 when the Wildcats host George Washington.

In Big East play, Villanova will play each conference opponent once with the exception of Providence who the Wildcats will play home and home. Villanova will host Seton Hall, Georgetown, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Providence, Marquette, Connecticut and Rutgers. The Wildcats will play at Notre Dame, Cincinnati, DePaul, St. John's, South Florida, West Virginia, Louisville and Providence.
