2007-08 Women's Basketball Schedule

VILLANOVA, Pa.-- Villanova University Director of Athletics Vince Nicastro today announced the 2007-08 Wildcat women's basketball schedule. The Wildcats will play a 29-game schedule, including 16 Big East Conference contests and four Philadelphia Big Five match-ups.

The 2007-08 campaign tips-off at Big Five rival LaSalle on Friday, Nov. 9. Following La Salle, the Wildcats will play at Loyola (Md.) on Nov. 11 and at Monmouth on Nov. 18. Villanova will spend Thanksgiving in northern California participating in the University of San Francisco Tournament. Joining the Wildcats and host San Francisco in the tournament field are South Alabama and the University of Missouri Kansas City. The `Cats will meet South Alabama in the first round. Villanova will close out November with its home opener against Fairfield on Nov. 28. The Fairfield contest is the first of six consecutive home games.

December begins with back-to-back Philadelphia Big Five contests. After hosting Penn at Dec. 1, the Wildcats will host Saint Joseph's on Dec. 5. The six-game homestand continues with George Washington on Dec. 8, Massachusetts on Dec. 11 and Binghamton on Dec. 13. Villanova will close out its non conference portion of the schedule with road contests at Temple (Dec. 21) and at Manhattan (Dec. 30).

In Big East play, Villanova will play each conference opponent once with the exception of Providence who the Wildcats will play home and home. Villanova will host Connecticut, Seton Hall, Georgetown, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Providence, Cincinnati and Marquette. The Wildcats will play at Notre Dame, Providence, Rutgers, DePaul, St. John's, South Florida, West Virginia and Louisville. The Big East opener will be on Jan. 3 when the Wildcats play host to Connecticut.
