Villanova Announces 2012-13 Women's Basketball Schedule
Villanova University head women's basketball coach Harry Perretta today announced the 2012-13 Wildcat schedule. The Wildcats will play a 29-game schedule, including 16 Big East Conference contests and four Philadelphia Big Five match-ups.
The 2012-13 campaign tips-off on Saturday, Nov. 10, when the Wildcats travel to Minneapolis to play in the Minnesota Tip-off Tournament. Villanova will play South Dakota State in the opener and then face either Minnesota or Washington State on Nov. 11. Following the Minnesota Tournament, the team will play at Lafayette on Nov. 14.
Villanova will spend Thanksgiving in Las Vegas participating in the UNLV Thanksgiving Classic. The Wildcats are scheduled to play Bowling Green in the first round on Nov. 24. The second round opponent will be either the host Rebels or Montana.
Following the Las Vegas trip, Villanova returns home to play four of five games at The Pavilion. The stretch begins with back-to-back home dates against Lehigh (Nov. 29) and LaSalle (Dec. 2). After a game at Saint Joseph's on Dec. 8, the Wildcats will host Princeton (Dec. 12) and Temple (Dec. 21).
The Wildcats will spend the holidays playing in the Dartmouth Tournament. Villanova will open the tournament against Delaware on Dec. 29 and will play either Duquesne or host Dartmouth in the second round.
After the first of the year, 16 of Villanova's 17 games will be Big East Conference contests. The lone exception is a road game at Penn on Jan. 16.
In Big East play, Villanova will play each conference opponent once with the exception of Providence and Syracuse who the Wildcats will play home and home. Villanova will host DePaul, South Florida, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Marquette, Louisville, St. John's and Providence. The Wildcats will travel to Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Providence, Connecticut, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Georgetown and Syracuse.
Villanova is set two make two television appearances this year as part of the Big East TV package. The game at Pittsburgh on Jan. 12 will be the Big East TV game of the week, while the home contest versus Notre Dame on Feb. 5 will be televised by the CBS Sports Network.
