June 3, 2009 Lindsay Kimmel Bio
VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova University head women's basketball coach Harry Perretta today announced that Lindsay Kimmel is transferring to Villanova from Temple University. Kimmel, a 6-0 forward from Binghamton, N.Y., will sit out the 2009-10 season due to NCAA transfer rules and will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2010-2011 campaign.
"We are very familiar with Lindsay having recruited her out of high school," said Perretta. "She is an outstanding three-point shooter who has the versatility to play a number of different positions. We are excited about adding Lindsay to our program."
As a sophomore in 2008-09, Kimmel started 17 of 31 games and averaged 5.3 points per game and 1.9 rebounds per contest. She also finished second on the team in three-point field goals made with 44. Her best effort of the season came against Rhode Island when she netted a career-best 22 points, including a 6-of-11 effort from three-point range.
During her freshman campaign in 2007-08, Kimmel started 16 of 34 games and averaged 5.1 points per game and 1.2 rebounds per contest. She led the Owls that year in three-point field goals made with 51.
Kimmel is a 2007 graduate of Harpursville High School in Binghamton, N.Y. , where she averaged 30.5 points per game as a senior and was named the 2007 Press and Sun Bulletin Player of the Year. She finished her high school career with 2,082 points, becoming the first Broome County girl or boy to surpass the 2,000 career point plateau.
