Villanova University head women's basketball coach Harry Perretta today announced the signing of Katia Lavitsky to a national letter of intent. Lavitsky, a 6-3 forward/center from Herzelia, Israel, will enroll at Villanova in the fall of 2003 and be a member of the 2003-04 Wildcat squad.

"We are very excited that Katia has decided to join our program," said Perretta. "Due to her size and shooting ability, Katia will be able to play both outside and inside for us. She has the potential to be a very good player for us."

With the addition of Lavitsky, the Wildcats now have two natives of Israel on the roster. Freshman Liad Suez attended Ostrovsky High School in Even-Yehuda, Israel. Suez sat out this past season due to NCAA rules and will have three years of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2003-04 campaign.

Lavitsky joins Stacie Whitman in the 2003 Wildcat recruiting class. Whitman, a 6-0 guard/forward from Plymouth Whitemarsh High School in Plymouth Meeting, Pa., signed with Villanova in November.
