Villanova University junior guard Courtney Mix has been one of 60 players invited to the USA Basketball Women's National Team Trials it was announced by USA Basketball. The USA Trials will be held from May 22-25 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

"This is a tremendous honor for Courtney. We are very excited that she will have this opportunity to compete against the nation's best," said Villanova head coach Harry Perretta. "Courtney is a multi-dimensional player who excels at many aspects of the game. There are not many players who can play both point guard and power forward."

The Trials will be used to select two 12-member 2003 USA Basketball Teams that will participate in the World Championships for Young Women and the Pan American Games. Players 21-years-old and younger will be eligible for the USA Young Women's Team that will play in Sibenik, Croatia from July 25-Aug. 3. The Pan American Games will take place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from Aug. 2-Aug. 9. Ohio State University head coach Jim Foster will guide the USA Young Women's Team, while University of Virginia mentor Debbie Ryan will lead the USA squad at the Pan American Games.

As a junior this past year, Mix averaged 9.4 points per game and led the Wildcats in four categories including rebounding (7.2 rpg.), assists (4.7 apg.), steals (1.8 spg.) and blocks (1.1 bpg.). One of the more versatile players in the country, Mix started all 34 games at point guard for Villanova, in addition to logging minutes at both forward positions as well.

Mix was very instrumental in Villanova's run to the Elite Eight of the 2003 NCAA Tournament. In four NCAA Tournament games, Mix shot 50 percent (21-of-42) from the field and averaged 13.2 ppg., 10.0 rpg., 3.7 apg., 1.3 spg., and 1.3 bpg. For her efforts versus Colorado and Tennessee in the Mideast Regional, Mix was named to the Region's All-Tournament Team.
