VILLANOVA, PA. - The Delaware County Athlete Hall of Fame honored Villanova University head women's basketball coach Harry Perretta was on Thursday, Apr. 29. Perretta earned the women's basketball Coach of the Year at the Hall of Fame's 65th annual banquet held at the Concordville Inn.

Perretta receives the honor for his efforts the last two seasons. In 2003, Perretta guided Villanova to the Big East Tournament Championship with a 52-48 win over No. 1 ranked Connecticut. The win also snapped Connecticut's NCAA record 70-game winning streak. Perretta's 2003 squad would finish with a gaudy 28-6 record and advance to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.

This past year, Perretta led Villanova to a 23-7 mark and another win over No. 1 ranked Connecticut in the final home game of the season. The 2004 Wildcats defeated the University of Mississippi in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, before falling to Purdue in the second round.

Under Perretta's direction the last four years, Villanova has registered a 93-33 record, four-straight NCAA Tournament appearances, four consecutive 20+ win seasons, a Big East championship and two Philadelphia Big Five titles.
