On Tuesday, April 16 at the annual Philadelphia Women's Big Five Banquet, five members of the Villanova women's basketball team were honored for their accomplishments this past season. The Wildcats finished the 2001-02 campaign with a 20-11 record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight year.

Two Wildcats earned first team All-Big Five distinction including senior guard Mimi Riley (Bala Cynwyd, Pa.) and junior guard Trish Juhline (Havertown, Pa.). Riley recorded an outstanding senior season, leading the team in assists with a 4.8 apg. average and finishing second in scoring with a 12.3 points per game average. She also averaged 3.8 rebounds per game and 1.2 steals per contest. In 30 games in 2001-02, Riley tallied double figures in points in 23 of the 30 contests. Juhline garners first team All-Big Five honors after being a second team selection last season. In 24 games this past season, Juhline averaged a team-best 13.6 ppg., 3.1 rpg., 2.7 apg., and 1.2 spg. She also finished second on the team in three-point field goals made connecting on 61 in 156 attempts.

Two Villanova forwards were named to the All-Big Five second team with junior Katie Davis (North East, Md.) and sophomore Courtney Mix (Perrysburg, Ohio) claiming the honor. Davis, who started all 31 games in 2001-02, finished this past season third on the team in scoring with a 10.5 ppg. average, in addition to making a team-high 73 three-point field goals. Davis also averaged 3.9 rpg., 1.7 apg., and 1.5 spg. Starting in 11 of the 31 games she played in, Mix averaged 8.4 ppg., a team-high 6.9 rpg., 3.1 apg., 1.5 spg., and 1.0 bpg. As a freshman in 2000-01, Mix was named the Philadelphia Big Five Rookie of the Year.

Freshman guard Rebecca Earl (Moorestown, N.J.) also received recognition earning a spot on the Big Five All-Academic Team. An engineer major, Earl saw action in 13 of Villanova's 31 games this year.
