In the final ESPN/USA Today Women's NCAA Division I poll, the Villanova Women's Basketball team finished ranked 8th in the country. The Wildcats team finished the regular season with a record of 22-5 overall, 12-4 in the Big East, and were crowned Big East Champions. For their stellar regular season, Villanova was awarded a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Senior starters Katie Davis, Nicole Druckenmiller and Trish Juhline led Villanova to three consecutive NCAA Tournaments, a Big East Championship and a place in history by snapping Connecticut's 70 game win streak.

With victories over St. Francis (Pa.), George Washington and Colorado, the Wildcats advanced to the Elite Eight, which made not only school history, but also city history marking the first time ever that a Big Five Women's Basketball team has advanced to the field of eight.
