VILLANOVA, PA. - On Friday, April 4th, Villanova women's basketball senior guard Trish Juhline (Havertown, Pa./ Cardinal O'Hara) received All-America honorable mention by the Associated Press. Juhline had a tremendous senior season in 2002-03, averaging 17.6 points, 4.3 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game in helping lead the Wildcats to a 28-6 record, a Big East Tournament title and a spot in the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight.

Juhline accumulated a number of prestigious honors along the way including All-Big East first team honors for the second consecutive year, as well as being named the Big East Tournament's Most Outstanding Player. She was also chosen as one of the top college seniors to play in Friday night's WBCA All-Star Game at Georgia Tech University in Atlanta, Ga. The WBCA All-Star Game is part of the Women's Final Four festivities and is comprised the top WNBA hopefuls in women's college basketball game.

The 2002-03 campaign was one of the finest in the Villanova women's basketball program's history. After a 25-5 regular season, the `Cats fought their way through the conference tournament to earn a trip to the Big East title game to face No. 1 ranked Connecticut. In the title game, Villanova rallied from a nine-point second half deficit against UConn for a 52-48 victory and Big East Tournament Championship. The victory over the Huskies snapped the longest win-streak in Division I women's basketball history at 70.

Villanova earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament's Mideast Region. It was the highest seeding ever for a Philadelphia women's basketball team in the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats continued their sensational run into the NCAA Tournament. Wins over St. Francis, Pa. (51-36) in the first round, George Washington (70-57) in the second round and Colorado (53-51) in the regional semifinals earned the Wildcats a spot in the Elite Eight for the first time ever. Despite a loss to No. 1 seed Tennessee in the regional finals, Juhline and the Villanova women's basketball team finished the season with a 28-6 record recording one of the best seasons ever by a Philadelphia basketball program.
