VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova Wildcats will make their 10th all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament this weekend in Stanford, Calif. The No. 9 seeded Wildcats will take on No. 8 seed Michigan on Sunday, March 24. The game will be televised live on ESPN2. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. eastern time.

Villanova will be playing in its fourth 8-9 NCAA Tournament game when the Wildcats meet the Wolverines on Sunday. In the three previous 8-9 games, Villanova has posted a 1-2 record. The Wildcats were a No. 8 seed in their last NCAA appearance in 2009 and lost to No. 9 Utah (60-30). In 1988, No. 8 Villanova lost to No. 9 Wake Forest (53-51). As a No. 9 seed in 2002, the Wildcats registered a 67-46 victory over Pepperdine.

The Wildcats enter play in the NCAA Tournament with a 21-10 overall record. This is the team's first 20-win campaign since 2005-06 when Villanova went 21-11. Under the direction of head coach Harry Perretta, Villanova has now registered 15, 20-win seasons.

During the 2012-13 season, Villanova played 14 games against 12 opponents who are a part of the NCAA Tournament field. In those 14 contests, the Wildcats tallied an 8-6 record. The eight victories include South Dakota State (71-47), Montana (74-49), Saint Joseph's (55-51), Princeton (61-54), DePaul (65-45), USF (52-49), and two against Syracuse (64-59/77-75 in 3OT). The six losses came against Delaware (59-45), Connecticut (76-43), Notre Dame (59-52), Louisville (55-49), St. John's (52-49) and Syracuse (61-56).

The Wildcats are led by senior forward Laura Sweeney who leads the team in scoring (13.9 ppg.), rebounding (6.9 rpg.), field goal percentage (.517), steals (71) and blocks (59).
