Wildcats to Host Second Round WNIT Game Sunday at 1pm vs. George Washington

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova Wildcats have been selected to host a second round WNIT game. Villanova will play the George Washington Colonials on Sunday, March 23. Tip-off at The Pavilion is set for 1 p.m.

Villanova advanced to the second round with a 74-66 home win over Quinnipiac on Wednesday evening. Senior guard Devon Kane led the Wildcats in the victory with a career-high 24 points. Junior forward Lauren Burford added a career-high tying 20 points and a career-best seven rebounds.

Getty's Career Night Leads Villanova to 55-44 Win Over George Washington
Senior guard Maria Getty (Centerville, Ohio) scored a career-high 26 points and Villanova (11-6) shot 54 percent in the second half to pull away from George Washington (3-14) for a 55-44 victory on Thursday night at the Pavilion. The Wildcats were playing their final non-conference game of the year and will finish the regular season with an 11-2 mark against non-league foes.

George Washington enters play on Sunday with a 22-10 overall record. The Colonials went 11-5 in the Atlantic 10 Conference during the regular season to finish in a three-way tie for second place. George Washington is led by Jonquel Jones and Megan Nipe. Jones averages 14.6 points per game, while Nipe is averaging 14.5 points per contest. Jones also leads the team in rebounding at 11.0 caroms per game. The Colonials average 76.7 points per game and 45.1 rebounds per contest.
