VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova Wildcats will continue their 2012 WNIT run on Thursday, March 22, with a game at the University of Colorado. Game time is set for 9 p.m. eastern time. Colorado earned a berth in the third round with tonight's 64-55 victory at South Dakota. With the victory, the Buffaloes improve to 20-13.
Villanova is coming off a 58-55 second round win at Illinois State. Junior guard Rachel Roberts led three Wildcats in double figures with 16 points. Sophomore guard Devon Kane had 12 points, while junior forward Megan Pearson added 10 points.
This will be the second time that Villanova has played at Colorado in the WNIT third round. In 2008, the Wildcats lost a third round game to the Buffaloes in Boulder by a score of 64-58. Villanova leads the all-time series against Colorado by a 3-1 count. Two of the three wins came during the 2002-03 season. The Wildcats defeated the Buffaloes in the championship game of the 2002 Colorado Thanksgiving Classic and again in the Sweet 16 round of the 2003 NCAA Tournament.
The winner of the Villanova/Colorado game will advance to the quarterfinal round this weekend against the winner of the Missouri State/Oklahoma State game. That contest is scheduled for Thursday in Stillwater.
