VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova will play host to the Quinnipiac Bobcats in the first round of the WNIT on Wednesday, March 19. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. The Wildcats enter play with a 22-8 overall record, while Quinnipiac is 21-12 on the season.
The Wildcats are making their seventh appearance in the WNIT in 2014 and their 12th postseason berth in the last 15 seasons. The team's last postseason appearance came in last year's NCAA Tournament where Villanova lost to Michigan in the first round. The Wildcats currently own a 6-6 all-time mark in the WNIT.
This will be the second all-time meeting between the Wildcats and Bobcats. The first meeting came in the opening round of the 2001 Fairfield Tournament where Villanova tallied a 62-51 win over Quinnipiac.
The Wildcats currently lead the country in fewest turnovers per game at 8.8. Connecticut, Colorado State and Drexel are second at 11.8 turnovers per game. In 30 contests this year, Villanova has registered 18 single digit turnover games. Villanova has led the country in three of the last six years in fewest turnovers per game.
Villanova is led in scoring by senior guard Devon Kane who is averaging 12.6 points per game, while sophomore guard Caroline Coyer is second with a 10.3 points per game average. Kane also leads the team in assists with 131 and steals with 37, while junior forward Taylor Holeman owns a team-best 5.3 rebounds per game average.
