The Wildcats are making their 10th appearance in the WNIT in 2017 and their 15th postseason berth in the last 18 seasons. Villanova currently owns an 11-9 all-time mark in the WNIT.
Villanova Earns an Automatic Bid to the NIT
On Monday night, Villanova learned that it was chosen to play in the 2017 Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). The Wildcats will travel to Princeton on Friday, March 17. Tip-off time will be announced on Tuesday.
Wildcats Fall in BIG EAST Quarterfinals to St. John's
The Villanova women’s basketball lost to the St. John’s in the quarterfinal round of the Big East Tournament on Sunday night by a score of 56-40. With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 16-14 on the season, while St. John’s improves to 20-10 on the season.
Women's Basketball Takes On St. John's in BIG EAST Tournament
The Wildcats will be playing in their 34th Big East Tournament this week and own an all-time record of 32-30 in the conference tournament. Villanova has three Big East Tournament titles to its credit, capturing the crown in 1986, 1987 and 2003. In the past 33 Big East Tournaments, the Wildcats have advanced to the semifinals 13 times and the title game on four occasions.
Two Wildcats Earn BIG EAST Honors
Two Villanova Wildcats garnered recognition as sophomore guard Adrianna Hahn (Wilmington, Del.) was named to the All-Big East second team and junior guard Alex Louin (Doylestown, Pa.) earned a spot on the Honorable Mention team.
Villanova Falls at Marquette in Season Finale
The Villanova Wildcats concluded the 2016-17 regular season on Sunday afternoon with a loss to the Marquette Golden Eagles. With the loss, Villanova drops to 16-13 overall and 11-7 in Big East play, while Marquette improves to 22-7 overall and 13-6 in conference action.
Women's Basketball to Close out Regular Season at Marquette Sunday
The Wildcats and Golden Eagles enter play on Sunday tied at 9-9 in the all-time series. The Wildcats won both meetings against the Golden Eagles last year and have won four of five overall versus Marquette. The Golden Eagles registered a 77-71 win at Villanova earlier this year in the Big East opener on Dec. 28.
Villanova's Five Game Winning Streak Snapped at DePaul
In the loss, Gedaka led the way for the Wildcats with 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds. She was 4-of-10 from the field and 4-of-5 from the foul line. Freshman Kelly Jekot and sophomore Adrianna Hahn had seven points each.
