VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova University women's basketball team accepted a bid to the 2000 WNIT and will open the tournament on Wednesday, March 15 at Michigan State. Game time has not yet been determined.

Michigan State enters play with a 17-11 overall record. The Spartans finished the season tied for fifth in the Big Ten with an 8-8 record. On its home court this season, Michigan State is an impressive 12-1.

This is the second time in the last three years that Villanova has participated in the WNIT. In 1998, Villanova lost to eventual WNIT champion Penn State, 68-61, in the first round.

Villanova enters play in the WNIT with a 15-14 overall record.
