March 4, 2014

The Villanova Wildcats will be the No. 4 seed in next weekend's Big East Women's Basketball Tournament to be held at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Ill. Villanova finished the regular season with a 22-7 overall record and a 12-6 Big East mark. The 12-6 record was good enough for a third place tie in the final standings with Creighton. The Bluejays earned the No. 3 seed due to the league tie breaker system.

Villanova will play No. 5 seed Marquette on Sunday, March 9, at 8:30 p.m. central time. The Wildcats swept the season series against the Golden Eagles including an 81-64 home win earlier tonight. Villanova also tallied a 63-61 win at Marquette on Dec. 31.

The Wildcats are 31-27 all-time in the Big East Tournament. Villanova has captured the tournament title on three occasions, including 1986, 1987 and 2003.
