Women's Basketball Earns Six Seed

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova University women's basketball team will be the six seed in this weekend's Big East Conference Tournament to be held at Gampel Pavilion on the campus of the University of Connecticut. As the sixth seed, the Wildcats will play the 11th seeded Providence College Friars on Saturday, March 4 at 8:30 p.m. With a win in the first round, Villanova will advance to the quarterfinals to face Rutgers on Sunday, March 5 at 8 p.m.

Villanova finished the 1999-2000 regular season with a 14-13 overall record and a 7-9 Big East Conference mark. The Wildcats own an all-time Big East Tournament record of 18-15 and they have won five-straight first round games. In the 17 years of the Big East Tournament, Villanova has won its first round game on 13 occasions.
