VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova Wildcats will travel to Syracuse on Saturday, March 2, to take on the 22nd ranked Orange at 3p.m. Villanova enters play with an 18-9 overall record and a 7-7 mark in Big East play, while Syracuse is 22-5 overall and 10-4 in league action.
Saturday's game with Syracuse will be the second match-up of the season between the teams. In a game played at Villanova on Jan. 26, the Wildcats tallied a 64-59 victory. In the win, senior guard Rachel Roberts led Villanova with a career-high 26 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field, including a 6-of-11 effort from three-point range. Senior forward Laura Sweeney added 15 points and 11 rebounds. Syracuse was paced Elashier Hall with 17 points and Brittney Sykes with 14 points. Villanova shot 10-of-25 from three-point range in the win.
Villanova leads the all-time series with Syracuse by a 39-15 count. The Wildcats have had recent success against the Orange as well, winning won four of the last five meetings against Syracuse.
The Wildcats are led by senior forward Laura Sweeney who leads the team in scoring (13.2 ppg.), rebounding (6.9 rpg.), field goal percentage (.514), steals (65) and blocks (51).
