VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova and DePaul will meet in a Big East Conference contest on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at The Pavilion. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. The Wildcats enter play 20-6 overall and 10-5 in Big East play, while DePaul is 21-6 overall and 12-3 in conference action.
The Blue Demons have had the upper hand against Villanova through the years. Entering play on Tuesday evening, DePaul leads the all-time series by an 8-2 count. One of Villanova's two wins came last year when the Wildcats registered a 65-45 home win over the Blue Demons. DePaul is 2-2 in games played at The Pavilion.
Two of the most tenured coaches in women's college basketball will square off on Tuesday when head coach Harry Perretta and the Wildcats play host to head coach Doug Bruno and the DePaul Blue Demons. Together, the duo have coached in 1,990 career games and have a combined 1,250 wins. Perretta is 658-410 in 36 years as the Wildcat mentor, while Bruno has a 30-year career mark of 592-330 (552-300 in 28 seasons at DePaul).
The Wildcats tallied their 20th win of the season on Sunday with a 65-52 victory over the Georgetown Hoyas. This is Villanova's second straight 20-win season and the 16th, 20-win campaign in head coach Harry Perretta's career.
The Wildcats are led in scoring by senior guard Devon Kane who is averaging 11.6 points per game, while sophomore guard Caroline Coyer is second with a 10.6 points per game average. Kane also leads the team in assists with 110 and steals with 29, while junior forward Taylor Holeman owns a team-best 5.5 rebounds per game average.
