Wildcats Host Creighton Sunday for Senior Day

Villanova will close out the 2017-18 regular season on Sunday, Feb. 25, by hosting the Creighton Bluejays in a Big East Conference game. The Wildcats enter play with a 21-7 overall record and an 11-6 Big East Conference mark, while the Bluejays are 17-10 overall and 11-6 in conference action. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m., and can be seen live on FS1.

Sunday’s game will be the second meeting of the season between the Wildcats and Bluejays. The two teams met on Dec. 28 in Omaha, where Creighton tallied a 69-54 victory. In the loss, senior center Megan Quinn and junior forward Jannah Tucker had 11 points, while junior guard Adrianna Hahn added 10 points. Creighton was paced by Jaylyn Agnew and Audrey Faber who had 19 points each. For the game, Villanova was 22-of-52 for 42.3 percent, 7-of-23 from three for 30.4 percent and 3-of-7 from the foul line for 42.9 percent, while Creighton shot 49.1 percent from the field (27-of-55), 37.5 percent from behind the arc (6-of-16) and 69.2 percent from the charity stripe (9-of-13). Creighton owned a 35-28 advantage on the backboards.

The Wildcats and Bluejays enter play on Sunday tied for third place in the league standings with an 11-6 Big East Conference record. The team that wins on Sunday will be the three seed in next week’s Big East Tournament, while the loser will be the No. 4 seed.


 

 

Villanova will honor the three senior members of its team prior to Sunday’s game during a Senior Day ceremony. The trio includes Alex Louin, Quinn and Nicolette Juliana. Together, this senior class has helped lead the Wildcats to four straight 20-win seasons, an 83-48 record (.633), a 46-25 Big East Conference mark (.647) and three consecutive WNIT berths.  

The Wildcats enter play on Sunday with an 11-6 Big East Conference record. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Villanova has registered double digit league wins. Since the new Big East began in 2013-14, Villanova has recorded a 58-31 mark (.651) in conference games. 

Villanova is led in scoring by Louin with an 11.9 points per game average. Sophomore guard Kelly Jekot is averaging 11.6 points per contest, while sophomore forward Mary Gedaka is averaging 11.3 points per game. Louin has a team-best 6.6 rebounds per game average.
