VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova begins a stretch of playing four games in eight days when the Wildcats host No. 11 Louisville on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats enter play with an 18-7 overall record and a 7-5 mark in Big East play, while Louisville is 21-6 overall and 9-4 in league action. Tip-off at The Pavilion is set for 2 p.m.
In two road wins last week, the Villanova defense allowed just 39.0 points per game. The wins included a 63-34 victory at Seton Hall and a 57-44 win at Georgetown. Seton Hall and Georgetown combined to shoot 31-of-89 from the field for 35.0 percent. After 25 games this year, Villanova has given up 50 points or less in 13 of the 25 contests. Entering play on Sunday versus Louisville, the Wildcats are allowing 51.2 points per game which ranks second in the latest Big East statistics.
Villanova has been credited with an assist on 386 of its 541 made field goals this year for 72.0 percent. The Wildcats are currently third in the country in assist to turnover ratio at 1.38. In last Saturday's win at Georgetown, Villanova was credited with an assist on 17 of its 20 made field goals. The `Cats currently have seven players with 30 or more assists led by Rachel Roberts with 57.
The Wildcats are led by Sweeney who leads the team in scoring (13.2 ppg.), rebounding (6.8 rpg.), field goal percentage (.520), steals (62) and blocks (47). Rachel Roberts ranks second in scoring at 10.5 points per game.
