PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Villanova University junior forward Lisa Karcic has been named Philadelphia Big Five Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Karcic earns the honor for her play last Saturday at St. John's. In addition, she was also named to the Big East Conference Honor Roll.
In the Wildcats 69-66 win at St. John's on Saturday, Feb. 9, Karcic scored a game-high 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting, including a 7-of-14 effort from three-point range. The seven three-point field goals represent a career-high. With the score tied at 58-58 with 4:51 to play in regulation, Karcic hit three consecutive three-point field goals. The last triple gave Villanova a 67-61 lead with just 59 seconds to play.
After 24 games, Karcic leads the Wildcats in three-point field goals (65), steals (34) and blocks (24) and she is third in both scoring (12.3 ppg.) and rebounding (4.7 rpg.).
Karcic and the Wildcats return to action on Saturday, Feb. 16 when they play host to the Cincinnati Bearcats. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
