Villanova will host the Seton Hall Pirates on Sunday, Feb. 11, in a Big East Conference game. The Wildcats enter play with a 19-5 overall record and a 9-4 Big East Conference mark, while Seton Hall is 15-10 overall and 7-7 in league play. Tip-off at the Jake Nevin Field House is set for 2 p.m., and the game can be seen live on FS2.
Sunday’s game will be the second meeting of the season between the Wildcats and Pirates. The two teams met on Jan. 12 in South Orange, N.J., where Villanova tallied a 67-59 victory. In the win, sophomore guard Kelly Jekot had 21 points, while sophomore forward Mary Gedaka finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. Seton Hall was led by Donnaizha Fountain with 28 points and 13 rebounds and Shadeen Samuels with 20 points and nine boards. For the game, Villanova shot 35.1 percent from the field (20-of-57), 33.3 percent from three-point range (8-of-24) and 95.0 percent from the foul line (19-of-20), while the Pirates were 22-of-56 from the floor (39.3%), 5-of-12 from long distance (41.7%) and 10-of-14 from the charity stripe (71.4%). Seton Hall owned a 41-34 advantage on the backboards. The Wildcats were charged with just seven turnovers.
Villanova will host its annual Alumnae Day on Sunday, Feb. 11. There will be a reception for all the former Wildcat players following the game. Close to 70 former players are expected to return for the event. Villanova will also honor Harry Perretta for his 40th season as head coach at the postgame reception.
Senior guard Alex Louin recorded her third double-double of the season in Friday’s win over St. John’s. In 31 minutes of action, Louin had 15 points and 11 rebounds to go with three assists. The 15 points came on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting effort from three-point range.
The Wildcats are led in scoring by junior guard Adrianna Hahn, Jekot and Louin who are all averaging 11.5 points per game. Louin has a team-best 6.5 rebounds per game average.
