Wildcats Host No. 2 Notre Dame Tuesday Evening

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova will play host to the No. 2 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Tuesday, Feb. 5. The game can be seen live on CBS College Sports. The Wildcats enter play with a 16-5 overall record and 5-3 mark in Big East play, while the Fighting Irish are 20-1 overall and 8-0 in league action. Tip-off at is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday night's game will be the 29th all-time meeting between Villanova and Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish lead the all-time series by an 18-10 count. Of Villanova's 10 victories in the series, seven of the 10 have come in the last 13 games against the Irish.

Senior forward Laura Sweeney has posted a double-double in five of the last seven games. Her latest double-double came at Rutgers last Saturday when she had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Sweeney now has 16 career double-doubles, including seven this season. The Wildcats are led by Sweeney who leads the team in scoring (12.7 ppg.), rebounding (7.0 rpg.), field goal percentage (.520), steals (52) and blocks (39). Senior guard Rachel Roberts ranks second in scoring at 10.9 points per game.

The No. 2 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish extended their winning streak to 16 straight games with a convincing 76-43 victory over the Villanova Wildcats on Saturday afternoon at the Purcell Pavilion in South Bend, Ind. With the win, Notre Dame improves to 19-1 overall and 7-0 in Big East play, while the Wildcats fall to 12-7 overall and 2-4 in conference action.
