Wildcats Host Creighton for Saturday Afternoon Matchup

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 1, when the Wildcats host the Creighton Bluejays in a Big East Conference contest. Tip-off at The Pavilion is set for 2 p.m. The Wildcats enter play 15-5 overall and 5-4 in Big East play, while Creighton is 13-7 overall and 7-2 in conference action.

Saturday's game between Villanova and Creighton will be the second meeting of the year between the two teams. The Bluejays tallied a 65-58 win over the Wildcats in a game played in Omaha on Dec. 28. Sophomore guard Katherine Coyer led Villanova in the loss with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field, while Caroline Coyer added 10 points for the Wildcats. Creighton was paced by Marissa Janning with 19 points, while McKenzie Fujan had 17 points and Sarah Nelson added 15 points. Villanova shot 45.5 percent from the field (25-of-55) and 19.0 percent from three-point range (4-of-21). The Bluejays shot 47.1 percent from the floor (24-of-51) and 42.9 percent from long distance (9-of-21).

Wildcats Fall at Creighton in Big East Opener
The Villanova Wildcats traveled to Omaha, Neb., on Saturday, Dec. 28, where they lost a hard fought 65-58 game to the Creighton Bluejays in the Big East opener for both teams.

There is a good chance that there will not be a lot of turnovers in Saturday's game, as both teams rank in the top 15 in the country in fewest turnovers per game. Villanova leads the nation at 9.1 per game, while Creighton is 15th nationally with a 12.8 turnover per game average.

For the third time in the last four games, Wildcat junior center Emily Leer scored double figures in points when she tallied a team-high 11 in Wednesday night's win over Georgetown. In her last four games, Leer is 16-of-33 from the floor (48.4%) and 7-of-18 from three-point range (38.8%) for a total of 40 points. For the year, she is averaging 8.5 points per game which ranks fourth on the team.



Villanova is led in scoring by senior guard Devon Kane who is averaging 11.8 points per game, while sophomore guard Caroline Coyer is second with a 10.5 points per game average. Kane also leads the team in assists with 83. Sophomore forward Kavunaa Edwards is averaging a team-best 5.7 rebounds per contest.
